7400 blk. of Piney Branch Ave., on Friday, December 21st at 1:57 p.m., officers responded to a robbery in progress. A male 18, was arrested for robbery after assaulting a male victim and stealing property.
Intersection of Piney Branch Ave., and Philadelphia Ave., on Tuesday, January 1st at 2:07 a.m., officers responded to a robbery that just occurred. A group of male suspects approached three male victims and demanded the victim’s property at gunpoint. The suspects removed the victim’s property and then fled the scene in an unknown direction.
600 blk. of Ray Dr., on Tuesday, January 1st at 2:07 a.m., officers responded to a robbery that just occurred. A male suspect forcibly grabbed a female victim’s phone and fled in an unknown direction.
Larceny from Vehicle
100 blk. of Elm Ave., on Friday, December 28th at 6:58 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry into an unlocked vehicle and stole property.
500 blk. of Albany Ave., on Monday, December 24th at 4:34 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a GPS unit.
7500 blk. of Dundalk Rd., on Monday, December 24th at 8:57 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred overnight. Unknown suspect(s) damaged a vehicle door lock and stole property.
7500 blk. of Dundalk Rd., on Monday, December 24th at 8:46 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred overnight. Unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle, but nothing was stolen.

7400 blk. of Aspen Ct., on Monday, December 31st at 8:37 a.m., officers responded to a burglary in progress. Unknown suspects pried open a door to a vacant apartment to gain entry, but did not remove any property.

300 blk. of Boyd Ave., on Tuesday, January 1st at 2:15 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) cut a lock to a bicycle and removed it from a resident’s carport.

7700 blk. of Maple Ave., on Thursday, December 27th at 1:16 a.m., officers responded to an assault that just occurred. A male suspect assaulted a female victim during an argument that tuned physical and then fled the scene.

7500 blk. of Maple Ave., on Wednesday, January 2nd at 11:48 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) removed a rear vehicle tag and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

7700 blk. of Greenwood Ave., on Tuesday, January 1st at 4:59 p.m., officers responded to a burglary that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry through an unlocked window, but it is unknown if any property was stolen.

7300 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., Wednesday, December 26th at 9:24 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) removed a stationary bike from a fitness room.

7300 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., Monday, December 24th at 1:00 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) broke a vehicle window to gain entry and stole a GPS unit.

New Hampshire Garden Parking Permits - Community Advisory
For all residents in the newly approved parking permit zone: The Takoma Park Police Department ordered the printing of the new parking stickers some time ago; however, they still have not been received. They are expected to arrive the week of January 7th. The police department will not be enforcing the regulations without a prior announcement and at least a two week grace period will be given once the permits are on hand in the department.
Affected households should proceed to complete and send in the application forms to the Takoma Park Police Department, 7500 Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland 20912, as per the first class mail you should have received in the mail prior to December 25th. You can also bring your forms to the Takoma Park Police Department administrative window.
If you are a tenant, you are the one who needs to apply for a sticker for your vehicle(s); not the landlord (property owner).

Citizen Armed Robbery - Community Advisory
On January 2, 2013, at approximately 11:27 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue for reports of a citizen armed robbery that occurred at the Takoma Metro. Three victims were walking in the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue when they were approached by two suspects from behind who ordered them to the ground by gunpoint. The victims complied and the suspects took property from the victims. The suspects fled on foot towards Tulip Avenue. The victims were not physically injured. A K-9 track was conducted with negative results. The suspects are described as:
Suspect 1: Black male, medium complexion, 18-25 years old, last seen wearing a black P-coat, dark pants with a gray hat or mask covering the bottom of his face.
Suspect 2: Black male, last seen wearing dark clothing.
Both suspects were armed with revolvers which had a red light/laser attached to the barrel.

Piney Branch Pool Information - Community Advisory
The new Water Aerobics session at Piney Branch Pool at Piney Branch Elementary School on Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland, began last evening, January 2nd. Let's keep those New Year's resolutions and get moving!
They do deep-water jogging and lots of both aerobic and core-strength exercises. Water aerobics is perfect for runners, especially those with an injured knee, ankle, or foot. The running is "no-impact" so you don't get stress injuries.
Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 pm, Fridays at 7 am, and Sundays at 8 am, and last for 55 minutes.
The prices will remain the same as they have been for the past several years - one of the best exercise bargains in town.
Here are the pass prices:
24 classes - $168
16 classes - $116
12 classes - $88
10 classes - $75
8 classes - $62
7 classes - $54.25 (offered because there are just 7 Mondays this session, so this is for those who come only on Monday)
Drop-in rate - $8 per class

Chief Alan M. Goldberg announces that the officer involved shooting that occurred on December 10, 2011, involving Cpl. Keith Largent was presented to the Prince George’s County Grand Jury. The Prince George's County Grand Jury cleared Cpl. Largent of the shooting and determined that the shooting was lawful. Chief Goldberg would like to thank the Takoma Park Police Department and Prince George’s County Police Department for their work on this case. Once again the cooperation between agencies was outstanding.
On December 10, 2011, at approximately 3:47 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 6900 block of New Hampshire Avenue (Sunoco Gas Station) for the report of an assault with a knife in progress. As the officers arrived at the scene, they were flagged down by citizens pointing to a red vehicle, later identified as a Ford Focus, operated by the suspect. The suspect was fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. Investigation at the scene revealed that the victim was filling his vehicle with gas and had left the vehicle to go inside the convenience mart at the gas station. The victim came out and observed the suspect in his vehicle and yelled at him to get out and screamed for people to call the police. The victim confronted the suspect as he was getting out of his vehicle; apparently the suspect had demanded property from the victim and the keys to his vehicle. At that time a confrontation occurred as the victim resisted and then was stabbed multiple times.
The suspect then ran to his Ford Focus, which was parked approximately 10 yards away, got into his vehicle and then rammed the victim’s vehicle. He then fled the lot going northbound on New Hampshire Avenue.
Two Takoma Park officers who arrived on the scene picked up the pursuit, which began northbound on New Hampshire Avenue. The officers lost sight of the vehicle for a period of time. The female officer then saw the vehicle overturned at Riggs Road and Metzerot Road. The suspect vehicle had apparently struck three occupied vehicles and then overturned. The female officer observed the suspect fleeing from his vehicle. She pursued him on foot and, several yards away from his vehicle, she confronted him and was forced to deploy her taser which had no affect on the suspect. The suspect then charged the female officer and assaulted her and then a second Takoma Park police officer arrived demanding that the suspect stop. Fearing for the life of his fellow officer, he fired his weapon multiple times causing the suspect to fall off of the officer.
The suspect was transported to MedStar Washington Hospital Center where he was pronounced deceased. The victim was also transported to MedStar Washington Hospital Center where he underwent surgery and remained in critical condition for a period of time. Because of the life-saving efforts of all Takoma Park Police officers involved, the victim survived and physically recovered.
