Detectives from the Takoma Park Police Department are investigating the disappearance of a missing Takoma Park juvenile. Vanessa Henderson, 16, was last seen on January 31, 2013, in the 700 block of Hudson Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland, at approximately 11:40 a.m. She was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt, blue jeans and pink/black Nike shoes. Henderson is a black female, 5’6 tall, 130 lbs., with a birthmark under her right eye. She also has an acoustic guitar in her possession.
Anyone who has information about Henderson’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Takoma Park Police Department at 301-270-1100 and refer to case #13005080.

Chief Alan M. Goldberg from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Oscar Humberto Pineda, 27, of Hyattsville, Maryland, for kidnapping, false imprisonment, and first and second degree assault. Pineda was arrested on January 23. Other charges may be pending.
On January 22, 2013, Takoma Park Police responded to the Prince George’s County Police Department for the report of an abduction that occurred in the 1300 block of University Blvd., Takoma Park, Maryland. The victim was in Takoma Park walking in the 1300 block of University Blvd. eastbound when she was contacted via cell phone from a male known to her. The male suspect, identified as Pineda, was waiting for the victim in the parking lot of the 7-11 at 1301 University Blvd. Pineda asked the victim to get into his vehicle and when she refused, he got out and began forcing her into his vehicle. Once inside the vehicle, Pineda drove out of the parking lot northbound on Route 650 (New Hampshire Avenue) towards University Blvd. Pineda continued to drive the victim around several different jurisdictions without her consent. Pineda threatened the victim with harm to her family and then began striking her in her face and neck area. Pineda drove to another location and continued to assault the victim. When the victim asked to go home, Pineda drove her to her home with more threats to harm her family if she told anyone. The victim immediately contacted the Prince George’s County Police Department, who contacted Takoma Park Police.
On January 23, investigators developed leads as to Pineda’s whereabouts. Takoma Park Police Officers, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division and Special Assignment Team, Montgomery County Police Central South Gang Unit and Montgomery County Officers from the 3rd District located Pineda in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Pineda was taken into custody without incident. In addition to Pineda being taken into custody, his vehicle and other items of evidentiary value were impounded and secured as evidence pending search warrants.
Upon his arrest, Pineda was in possession of an international airline ticket that was scheduled to leave on January 24 in the early morning hours.
Pineda is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit on a no bond status.
This case is still under investigation and further charges may be pending.
A citizen, Bonnie Johnson, has reported that her two puppies and dog escaped her yard during the storm. The puppies were spotted at approximately 6:50 this morning at Carroll Avenue and University Blvd. heading towards Prince George's County behind the Rite Aid on Lebanon Street. An officer observed the puppies in the 800 block of New Hampshire Avenue and attempted to retrieve them, however, they were scared and ran toward the apartment complex. The two puppies and dog are described as follows:
1. Dog: Almost a year old, large, cream colored, looks like a German Shepherd, male, no collar (it came off when he jumped over the fence). He is friendly. His name is "Pradesh."
2. Puppy 1: female, brown Doberman with tan markings, floppy ears.
3. Puppy 2: female, light brown, long slender face, floppy ears.

The National Weather Service has issued a TORNADO WATCH for Montgomery County effective immediately until 2 AM.
Be prepared. Tornadoes can form from severe thunderstorms with little or no advanced warning. Know your safe room in your home, at school, and at work.
The safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement. Fit under a work bench or other piece of sturdy furniture. If no basement is available, seek shelter on the lowest floor in a hallway or closet. Use blankets or pillows to cover your body and always stay away from windows.
Evacuate mobile homes and vehicles immediately. Do not use highway overpasses as shelters. If no shelter is available, lie flat in the nearest ditch or other low spot and cover your head with your hands.
Do not wait to hear or see this tornado before you take action. Tornadoes that form at night and those that are rain wrapped may not be visible.

If you received a ticket for the new Area 6 New Hampshire Garden Parking, please contact our Parking Enforcement Coordinator, Ms White, at 301.891.7112. They will be voided.
If you have not gotten your parking permit yet, you should do so. The police department will be enforcing the regulations on February 10, 2013.
