Chief Ronald A. Ricucci from the Takoma Park Police Department announces that an arrest warrant has been applied for by Takoma Park Police for Michael Terai Anderson, 23, of Washington, D.C., for armed robbery and making false statements to the police. Metro Transit Police are handling the Fugitive from Justice warrant.

On March 10, 2012, at approximately 7:49 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 7300 block of Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland, for reports of an armed robbery. The victim was walking home from the Takoma Metro Station when approached by a suspect (later identified as Anderson) who tried to forcibly remove property from the victim. The victim initially resisted until Anderson threatened that he had a weapon. He was able to take the victim’s property and then fled on foot towards Carroll Avenue. The victim flagged down a vehicle and called police. The victim was able to give a full description of Anderson to the police. Officers responded to the Takoma Metro Station platform to look for Anderson. Using the description given by the victim, an officer located him at the Takoma Metro Station.

Anderson was detained by Takoma Park Police pending the arrival of Metro Transit Police. A Takoma Park K9 officer tracked from the area where the robbery took place which led them back to Anderson at the Takoma Metro Station. Before the arrival of Metro Transit Police, Anderson gave false information pertaining to his identity. However, location of an identification card revealed his true identity. Metro Transit Police arrived and took custody of Anderson and charged him as a fugitive from justice.

Chief Ronald A. Ricucci once again praises the working relationship of the multi-jurisdictions and says it is another example of various agencies working together to better serve the community. Chief Ricucci is proud of the Takoma Park dispatchers and patrol officers for their outstanding work on this incident.
