Chief Ronald A. Ricucci from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Nassem Darwich, 23, of Fairfax, Virginia, for calling in a bomb threat to the Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Maryland. The arrest was made by Fairfax County, Virginia, Police and Darwich is being held on a no bond status in the Fairfax County, Virginia, Detention Center. Detectives from Takoma Park Police have applied for an arrest warrant in Maryland.
On April 1, 2012, Darwich telephoned in a bomb threat several times to the Washington Adventist Hospital (WAH). The WAH was placed on lock-down and searched thoroughly by security and medical staff pending the arrival of Bomb K9 units. Darwich did not hide his identity and Takoma Park Police were able to speak with him about his threat to the hospital. After willingly giving his name and address to police, Takoma Park Police contacted Fairfax County Police seeking assistance. Fairfax County Police responded to Darwich’s residence and took him into custody. The lock down was lifted after the WAH was cleared by Bomb K9 units.
