Arrests Made of Three Juveniles, One Adult, for Strong Arm Robbery; Other Offenses - News Release

Chief Ronald A. Ricucci from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrests of a 17-year old juvenile from Silver Spring, Maryland, two 16-year old juveniles from Takoma Park, Maryland, and Tanguy Mbaye, 19, of Takoma Park, Maryland, for strong arm robbery, second degree assault, theft less than $1,000 and conspiracy to commit all offenses.

On April 10, 2012, at approximately 4:46 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 7600 block of Piney Branch Road for reports of a strong arm robbery that had just occurred. The victims were walking through the woods behind the Takoma Park Middle School when they were assaulted by the above four subjects. Property was taken. A K9 track was conducted which led officers to the bottom steps of the Darwin Recreation Center. Investigation led officers to the three juveniles and Mbaye as the suspects in the crimes.

Mbaye was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit in Rockville, Maryland. The 17-year old juvenile was transported to the NOYES Juvenile Detention Facility and a court hearing is scheduled for Thursday morning. The two 16-year old juveniles were released to the custody of their parents.
