Attempt Armed Robbery of a Minor - Community Advisory

On May 21, 2012, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded for an attempt armed robbery. A 13-year old female victim was walking home from her school bus stop on Glenside Drive and Anne Street when she was accosted by a Hispanic male, in his mid-20’s, who displayed an unknown sharp object/weapon and demanded property. The victim refused and the suspect slashed at her arms with the unknown weapon. The victim removed her backpack and began to swing it at the suspect knocking him down. While he was on the ground, the victim ran home where her parents called police. The suspect fled in an unknown direction. The victim was not seriously physically injured. A K9 track of the area was conducted with negative results. The suspect was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
