Basic Self-Defense Course on the Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System - Community Advisory

The Takoma Park Police Department will be conducting a basic self-defense course based on the Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) system. It is designed for women only and will teach women techniques on how to escape an attacker. The instructional objective of the course is "to develop and enhance the options of self-defense, so they may become viable considerations to the woman who is attacked." (R.A.D. systems) For more information, please visit http://rad-systems.com/index.html. The course is 12 hours and will be a combination of classroom lecture and physical training (don't be intimidated by the physical training Remember, this course is designed to teach women how to ESCAPE an attacker, NOT how to fight an attacker). Each class will build on previous classes. The course is free, and there is a limit of 12 students per session.
