Takoma Park Police Department Weekly Crime Report: 8/10/12 - 8/16/12

Ward 1:

Robbery

7000 blk. of Carroll Ave., on Tuesday, August 14th at 10:42 p.m., officers responded to a robbery that just occurred. Three male suspects approached a male victim as he walked from the Takoma Metro Station and asked the victim for money. The victim replied he did not have change and continued to walk. The suspects then assaulted the victim and removed property. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Residential Burglary

7500 blk. of Dundalk Rd., on Thursday, August 16th at 2:15 p.m., officers responded to a burglary that occurred earlier. An unknown male suspect gained entry into the residence by prying a window open. Property was stolen.

Larceny

7200 blk. of Cedar Ave., on Monday, August 13th at 5:40 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked shed and attempted to steal property, but were unsuccessful.

Larceny from Vehicle

200 blk. of Tulip Ave., on Monday, August 13th at 8:49 a.m., officers responded to a theft in progress. A male 45 was detained after he was observed removing property from a vehicle. The suspect then complained of chest pains and was admitted to the hospital.

Ward 2:

Residential Burglary

7100 blk. of Woodland Ave., on Friday, August 10th at 7:11 a.m., officers responded to a burglary that just occurred. Two unknown male suspects gained entry into the residence by forcing open a rear door. They were then observed exiting through the front door before fleeing in a vehicle. No property was reported stolen.

Larceny

7600 blk. of Carroll Ave., on Tuesday, August 14th at 12:54 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) removed unattended property from a hospital room.

7600 blk. of Carroll Ave., on Tuesday, August 14th at 12:20 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. A female victim advised that property was missing from her possession after being discharged from the hospital.

Assault

500 blk. of Ethan Allen Ave., on Sunday, August 12th at 8:00 p.m., officers responded to an assault in progress. A female 46 was arrested for assaulting a male victim during a domestic argument that tuned physical.

Residential Burglary

400 blk. of Ethan Allen Ave., on Tuesday, August 14th at 8:34 a.m., officers responded to a burglary that just occurred. Two unknown male suspects gained entry into the residence by breaking a window and stole property.

Ward 3:

Assault

6700 blk. of Westmoreland Ave., on Tuesday, August 14th at 10:28 a.m., officers responded to an assault in progress. A male and female assaulted each other during a domestic argument that turned physical. No arrests made.

Residential Burglary

400 blk. of Beech Dr., on Tuesday, August 14th at 4:20 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry into a residence by removing a window screen and stole property.

Larceny

6300 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Monday, August 2:05 p.m., officers responded to a theft that just occurred. An unknown male suspect removed items from a store and fled without paying.

Larceny from Vehicle

6500 blk. of 4th Ave., on Saturday, August 11th at 10:41 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred overnight. Unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle and stole property.

6400 blk. of 5th Ave., on Tuesday, August 14th at 12:07 a.m., a male 28 was observed breaking into a vehicle and arrested.

Commercial Burglary

7600 blk. of Maple Ave., on Sunday, August 12th at 5:40 a.m., officers responded to a burglary that occurred earlier. An unknown male suspect gained entry into the business through a rooftop skylight and stole property.

Auto Theft

100 blk. of Lee Ave., on Sunday, August 12th at 1:38 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) stole a yellow and black moped by cutting a cable lock.

Ward 5:

Residential Burglary

8200 blk. of Houston Ave., on Wednesday, August 15th at 7:41 p.m., two males and a female ages 8, 13, 12 were arrested and released to guardians for stealing property from an apartment.

Ward 6:

Assault

7600 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Monday, August 13th at 10:12 p.m., officers responded to an assault that just occurred. Two females assaulted each other in an argument that turned physical.

1300 blk. of University Blvd., on Friday, August 10th at 6:45 p.m., officers responded to an assault that just occurred. A known male suspect assaulted a female victim during an argument that tuned physical.

7400 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Friday, August 10th at 12:20 a.m., officers responded to an assault in progress. A male 48 was arrested for assaulting a male victim during an argument that turned physical.

Larceny

6900 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Tuesday, August 13th at 7:18 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. A known male suspect played lottery games at a business and fled the store without paying.

Larceny from Vehicle

7400 blk. of Wildwood Dr., on Tuesday, August 14th at 9:40 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) opened an unlocked vehicle door and stole property.

Auto Theft

1100 blk. of Lancaster Rd., on Sunday, August 12th at 3:45 a.m., officers responded to an auto theft that just occurred. Unknown suspect(s) stole a white 2007 Toyota Rav 4 by unknown means from the victim’s driveway.

Arrests:

Intersection of Carroll Ave. and Flower Ave., on Saturday, August 11th at 1:47 a.m., a male 53 was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

7500 blk. of Maple Ave., on Tuesday, August 14th at 6:30 p.m., a male 31 was arrested for having an open drug possession and paraphernalia warrant.

7500 blk. of Maple Ave., on Tuesday, August 14th at 12:00 p.m., a male 37 was arrested for having an open assault and sexual assault warrant.
