Takoma Park Police Department Weekly Crime Report: 4/5/13 - 4/11/13

Arrests:

7400 blk. New Hampshire Ave., on Sunday, April 7th at 4:49 a.m., a male 23, was arrested for disorderly conduct and failure to obey.

Intersection of Philadelphia Ave. and Piney Branch Rd., on Thursday, April 11th at 10:18 a.m., a male 28, was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

Intersection of Carroll Ave., and Glenside Dr., on Tuesday, April 9th at 9:30 p.m., a male 31, was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Intersection of East West Hwy., and New Hampshire Ave., on Tuesday, April 9th at 8:41 p.m., a male 22, was arrested for possession of marijuana.

7600 blk. of Flower Ave., on Tuesday, April 9th at 12:38 a.m., a male 28, was arrested for having an open failure to appear for driving on a suspended license warrant and driving under suspension.

Ward 1:

Armed Robbery

7700 blk. of Takoma Ave., on Wednesday, April 10th at 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a robbery that just occurred. Five male suspects in a blue four door sedan approached a landscaping crew when two of the suspects exited the vehicle, brandished a black handgun, and stole two leaf blowers before fleeing on Philadelphia Avenue. No victims sustained any injury.

Larceny form Vehicle

7100 blk. of Willow Ave., on Sunday, April 7th at 11:00 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred overnight. An unknown male suspect gained entry into an unlocked car and stole a GPS unit before fleeing into DC.

Residential Burglary

6800 blk. of Woodland Ave., on Wednesday, April 10th at 4:45 p.m., officers responded to a burglary that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry into a residence through an unlocked front window and stole property.

Larceny

6600 blk. of Gude Ave., on Sunday, April 7th at 4:50 p.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) removed an unsecured tire from a bicycle.

Larceny

7700 blk. of Maple Ave., on Monday, April 8th at 7:32 a.m., officers responded to a theft that occurred earlier. Unknown suspect(s) broke into a vending machine by unknown means and stole items.

Ward 5:

Aggravated Assault

8500 blk. of Flower Ave., on Monday, April 8th at 4:16 p.m., officers responded to an assault that just occurred. Known and unknown suspect(s) were involved in a shooting that occurred inside an apartment. The suspect(s) fled in an unknown direction. The male suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Ward 6:

Armed Robbery

1300 blk. of University Blvd., on Monday, April 8th at 9:31 p.m., officers responded to an armed robbery that just occurred. Two male suspects approached a male victim as he was sitting in his vehicle. One suspect produced a knife and demanded the victim’s property. The victim attempted to defend himself and sustained minor injuries. The suspects fled without gaining any property down University Blvd.

Residential Burglary/Assault

7500 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Monday, April 8th at 3:46 p.m., officers responded to a burglary and assault that just occurred. A male suspect assaulted a male victim while attempting to exit the victim’s residence when he was discovered inside the victim’s house. The suspect fled the scene north on University Boulevard. The victim suffered minor injuries and property was reported stolen.

Commercial Burglary

7500 blk. of New Hampshire Ave., on Tuesday, April 9th at 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a burglary that occurred overnight. Unknown suspect(s) broke a storefront window to gain entry into a business and stole property.

Larceny from Vehicle

7400 blk. of New Hampshire Ave. (Hampshire Towers), on Wednesday, April 10th at 5:50 a.m., officers responded to multiple attempted thefts that occurred overnight night. Unknown suspect(s) broke multiple windows to gain entry into three vehicles, but did not steal any property.
